Over the years, I have been privileged to be exposed to the many cleaning products that are out there. I have had the chance to try out the different products on the market to see what really works and what doesn’t. I have found what I believe to be the best bore cleaner out there right now in Bore Tech’s Eliminator.
Bore Tech has had a good reputation in their products since they started in 1997 and having dealt with them for the past 3 years, I don’t ever see them changing how they do business. Their Bore Stix are the best cleaning rods that I have used so far and I will continue to use them because of how well they work. I don’t particularly like a jag or brush coming off in the bore because they unscrew during the cleaning process and I haven’t had that happen using their Bore Stix. But as good as their rods are, we are here to talk about Eliminator.
Eliminator is new chemical technology that is designed to attack copper inside of the bore on a molecular level. It pulls the copper away from the bore and binds it to be wiped away. It works very quickly and efficiently. I have used this during my previous courses and would take a student’s rifle that had been cleaned prior to the course, bore-scope it, and then run a couple of wet patches of Eliminator down the bore. The reaction of the Eliminator is blue in color and every single time that I would do this, the patches would come out blue.
Maintenance is so important in long range shooting. You can take a rifle that shoots 1.5 – 2 MOA groups, clean it properly, and tighten those |

groups up considerably. Nine times out of ten, maintenance is neglected because of the time it takes to effectively clean a rifle. I know this to be true in the military; I have been guilty of this many, many times over. But with the proper products, maintenance shouldn’t be an afternoon event. I have taken the most well used and neglected rifle and effectively cleaned the bore in 15-20 minutes.
There is also the issue of corrosive ammunition. There are ammunition lots of military surplus out there that is corrosive and will damage your bore. The good thing about the Eliminator is that it will neutralize the corrosive salts that will eat at the lands and grooves. It also contains no ammonia or petroleum additives, so it is much safer to use both from an inhalation and combustion standpoint.
Overall, I believe that Bore Tech’s Eliminator is the best bore cleaner on the market today. Maintenance is a big pet peeve of mine and being a combat veteran, I keep all of my rifles in a ready state of use. I have used Bore Tech’s products very extensively and know firsthand that they do what the company says they do. I look forward to seeing the new products that they will be coming out with in the near future. |
