Professional Marksmen Inc. specializes in long range shooting. We have a lot of experience with the .50 BMG and currently offer courses that revolve around it,
So what are we talking about with Extreme Long Range Shooting?
We’re talking about precisely machined projectiles that are designed to be efficient as they fly through the air. We’re talking about cartridges that utilize the capacity and proper powders to create that velocity necessary for the longer ranges. We’re also talking about a rifle platform that was put together with such attention to detail that much of the accuracy issues are taken out of the equation. What a lot of it ends up coming down to is the individual shooter. This is where PM: The Distance comes in.
PM: The Distance is our Extreme Long Range Course that centers around the specific long range cartridges that have been growing in popularity these past few years. Really, we’re starting to catch up with the European shooters who have been using and developing many of them. PM: The Distance focuses on the .300 WM, .338 Lapua Magnum, .338 Remington Ultra Magnum, .338 Extreme, .416 Barrett, and Match .50 BMG.
PM: The Distance isn’t so much an advance precision shooting course, but more of an educating base that will begin a promising Extreme Long Range Shooting career. The course focuses on the science behind ELR shooting and the proper methods used to increase the odds of a first round hit. The |

important when working with the larger calibers. The recoil impulse can really affect accuracy and a steady position is very important. We will move over to the Unknown Distance Range in the afternoon and begin engaging targets at unknown distances and sizes.
Day 3: Unknown Distance Shooting – Angle Fire
The final day of the course begins on the Unknown Distance Range engaging the targets at the extended distances. We will then move to the elevated position and begin our angle fire. Shooting at an angle is just another factor to take into consideration and requires the practice.
Overall, PM: The Distance is a holistic course that will hopefully instill the knowledge and confidence to begin a successful ELR Shooting career.
This course is going to be offered in two different options: Ammunition included and with the shooters providing their own ammunition. These calibers in particular are expensive and it is easier for us to supply them, but you also have the option to bring your own loads with you. Professional Marksmen Inc. will not be responsible for the ammunition you supply, but we give you that option if you would like to load up and bring what you know already shoots well in your rifle.
We are going to schedule one date for this course this year as we’re reaching the end of our training season here in a couple of months. Stay tuned to the website for more information. |

idea is to broaden the rifle shooting spectrum to a point that all the factors that could possibly affect the projectile are taken into account and the shooter is ready to make that first round hit at 1500 yards or further.
We try to break our courses down to a three day format. This gives the proper amount of time deliver the information in a classroom setting, sight-in the rifles, gather data at the specific distances, and then engage targets at the extended ranges. The idea is to put out the maximum amount of information in this timeframe in a manner that is still retainable. Our student packages are pretty extensive so you can take the course home and reference later. Everything that we do is perishable and shooting seems to leave us faster than most things.
Course Breakdown:
Day 1: Classroom Instruction
We start out the course covering each of the calibers in detail and what makes each precise. We’ll also cover the platforms that deliver them. This portion of the course focuses on Ballistics, Marksmanship, Optical Adjustments, and always Maintenance. We’ll then sight in the rifles at the end of the day and then head back to the lodge.
Day 2: Known Distance Shooting
This day is used to gather data on our known distances and fine tune the shooting positions. We also work fine tune our ability to “drive” our rifles. This is |
