If you’re working with the larger calibers, such as a .458 Winchester Magnum, where the recoil can knock your socks off, it is a good idea to train with it prior to the hunt so you know what to expect. You hear many of the hunting guides mention that the biggest thing that they see with their clients is flinching with these larger calibers. I see it all the time in my courses. This leads into poor shot placement and the possibility of wounding and not killing the animal.
Train Before the Hunt
It is important to be prepared for every hunting experience. Knowing exactly what your tools are capable of, prior to leaving, will make for a better trip. It’s never a good thing to not know exactly what’s going to happen when you pull that trigger, especially when hunting dangerous game. We are still working our Professional Marksmen Big Game Hunt and Professional Marksmen Adventures for 2009, so we will be offering training on these calibers in conjunction with the dangerous game hunts. It makes for more of a well-rounded hunting vacation if you are properly prepared prior to the real thing. Just like we do in the military, training for a dangerous hunt is very important. |
